SYDNEY N SCALE MODEL RAILWAY CLUB
(SNSMRC)

Welcome

Sydney N Scale Model Railway Club was formed in 1972 by a group of model railway enthusiasts who saw the potential of the then new N Scale model railway format.

The club had its beginnings as a modular club with members owning their own modules and combining them on a Saturday afternoon as an operating layout for train running before later converting to a permanent fixed layout operation in 1988.

In 2006 the club was offered an opportunity to occupy new long term premises which were ideal for a model railway club.  It was decided that the existing permanent layout had reached the end of its life and a new layout was designed and has been completed at the new location.

The club recognised the potential of using the new Digital Command and Control (DCC) system as its operating system due to its simplicity, flexibility and future potential and decided to use this system for all of its new layouts.

The new Blackfoot and New Meadows Railroad is 140 metre (25 N Scale Kilometre) double track mainline bridge line located in Idaho USA and runs through twelve towns.  It is operated using the Digitrax DCC system which provides track power and independent locomotive control of up to 120 locomotives as well as remote operation of 155 mainline points via a computerised dispatcher panel or local control panels as required.  Automatic signalling will be installed in the near future

This layout is arguably the largest N scale layout in Australia and definitely the first and largest N Scale DCC club layout in Australia.

We operate for general running every Saturday afternoon from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm and switch to prototype railroad operation from 6.00pm to 10.00pm on the first and third Saturday of the month.

The club welcomes visitors and new members and would like to extend an open invitation to all to visit our new club premises and layouts.
